I’m a huge believer in creating a space that not only looks good, but also FEELS good. So whenever we move (which is pretty often being a military family), I put a lot of effort into making sure that the space that we are inhabiting has all of the qualities that we are looking for. And that includes aesthetics, coziness and most importantly, positive energy.
A lot of people have been asking about the items that my husband and I keep in our home, especially those that we added specifically to foster those positive vibes and I wanted to share some of our favorite items that we’ve found to help promote positive energy throughout our home!
5 Things To Keep In Your Home That Promote Positive Energy
White Sage Smudge Stick
Sage is something that I started keeping in the house about 2 years ago and it’s amazing what a difference using it has made when it comes to creating a positive space and environment for my family. I try to make it a point to do a “smudging” session once a month just to clear the air of any negative energy that might be lurking around 😉
Just like you would do a massive clean of your space when things start to get a little dirty, it’s also helpful to use sage to do a “spiritual” cleansing when you feel like the energy in your space is starting to shift in a heavy or negative way. I also use it to neutralize the air after having guests over, when I am about to go into deep meditation to help clear my mind, and when I’m about to embark on a new journey of some sort.
So how exactly does sage work?
It is said that when sage is burned, the smoke emits negative ions into the air that creates a neutral/positive energy. And it’s been used in this way by many different cultures for a very long time and has become an important tradition for many of them.
As I started transitioning into my mid-twenties, my Mother and Aunt would start encouraging me to carry a little pouch of sea salt on me at all times to keep any negative energy from attaching itself to me when going to certain places. And for the longest time, I totally thought they were “woo-woo” crazy out of their minds.
Fast forward to today, and not only do I carry sea salt with me going to certain places, I also have a small bowl of it just chilling on my desk!
So what’s the deal with the sea salt?
From the research that I’ve done, it seems that sea salt has a similar effect that the burning sage has in terms of releasing negative ions into the air to create a more positive vibe in your environment. I started doing this periodically a few months ago and it’s amazing the difference I feel in my mental clarity having it near me while I’m working at my desk. It’s become my little concentration tool 🙂
From as early as I can remember, I have always loved and been drawn to bamboo. There was just always something about it that calmed me and made me happy. And as a child, I loved that people always told me that it was “lucky” and would bring me good fortune. But as it turns out, bamboo does have positive energy attributes that promote calmness and well-being. Plus, it’s such a beautiful decor piece to give any room a cozy and relaxed vibe 🙂
Oh, how I absolutely LOVE my crystals! Crystals have the power to turn negative energy into positive energy and each is unique and has its own special meaning and abilities. I have so much fun going to this little shop a top a mountain in Ojai, California to purchase new ones and let my intuition guide me towards the ones that feel like they are meant for me. 99% of the time I have no idea which crystals are which (still learning!), but when I looked them up in my Big Book of Crystals, it’s always one with healing properties and meaning that I desperately need in my life. God and his divine universe work in mysterious ways!
So what are some of the best crystals that promote positive energy?
- Tiger Eye
- Rose Quartz
And there are even more out there to choose from 🙂
For the longest time, I never understood the whole essential oils craze. That is until I accidentally stumbled upon a bottle of Eucalyptus oil that my husband had stashed away for his deployments to ward off the tarantulas. Yeah really, that’s the only reason he bought it haha
At first, I wasn’t quite sure what it was, but when I opened it, I immediately fell in love with the smell and decided to pour some into a small dish and put it on my shelf to let the aroma spread through the house. And it absolutely calmed me and made me feel so relaxed. Even without an actual diffuser, which I do plan on getting very soon!
Some of my favorite essential oils to have in the house are:
- Eucalyptus (my fave!)
- Tea Tree
I generally buy my essential oils at Whole Foods or Sprouts (for those of you who have Sprouts) since those are the closest shops for me. But there are many other places that sell them, including online businesses, so be sure to do your research!
I hope this post inspires you to add some of these items into your decor to promote positive energy in your home and environment! Comment below to let me know if you already have any of these items in your home and which ones are your favorites!
